Congratulations to the Darana Hybrid for taking the Top Gun spot at this years Shootout! 

This is the first time since 2014 this team, formerly "Spirit of Qatar" has attended this event.  During the 2014 Shootout, this boat posted a blistering speed of 244 mph.  Now, under new ownership, this boat came back to the Shootout for the first time in over a decade to reclaim the top spot. 

With a new course record set, Darana is the 2025 Shootout Top Gun.  The weekend was action packed, drawing teams and spectators from all across the country!  There is absolutely no doubt several are already anticipating the 2026 Shootout.   

Get set for the 37th Annual Lake of the Ozarks Shootout—the biggest unsanctioned boat race in the country! Enjoy thrilling races, incredible speed, live entertainment, and delicious food, all in an electrifying lakeside setting. This is one weekend on the water you won’t want to miss!

There are also several events throughout the week from a street party, held on the Bagnell Dam Strip, to Wishing on a Ride, an inspiring event that allows individuals with disabilities and serious medical conditions the opportunity to enjoy thrilling rides in powerboats and other high-performance vessels.

With snow in the forecast it is hard to believe boating season is just around the corner, but that is exactly what it is.  The weather will break and everyone will be de-winterizing their boats and ready to get on Lake of the Ozarks.  The Overland Park Boat Show starting Thrusday February 13th, 2025 at 2:00 pm is known as the kick off to boating season.  It is hosted at the Overland Park Convention Center, 6000 College Blvd., Overland Park, KS 66211 and will be open Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
